Dive certification
Per Cherokee Board of Health requirements, teams have to undergo dive certification for swimmers.
Only new swimmers, or those not yet certified with our team, need to be certified. 5-year-olds don't get certified and they are required to do in water starts.
6 & up do get certified. Dive cert must be done for anyone who is new to the team regardless of whether you swim somewhere else during the year. All kids ages 6-18 have to be dive certified to be able to dive in summer swim meets in Cherokee County, GA.
If your child does not get dive certified, they will have to do in water starts (one hand on wall, push off wall at the start whistle).
We can only dive in pools that are at least 5 feet deep at the starting end. We cannot dive for home meets.
This year we will be doing dive certification during practice at the Bradshaw pool in the center of the pool where it is 5 feet deep. We will notify parents in advance to make sure swimmers are present.
ONE OTHER THING TO NOTE: Swimmers have to be able to swim the length of the pool by the first meet. No coaches in the water with swimmers.
Once you are dive certified, you do not have to do that again. You are good for next year, and years to come!

FREE Dive Cert classes are at the Chattahoochee Gold Aquatic Center in downtown Woodstock.
Friday, May 10th and Friday, May 17th
4:15 - 5:00 pm for all ages

Mark usually creates a list and sends it to Jennifer Sweazey when he is done with the certifications.

Diving reminders:
-Under four (4) feet - NO DIVING in Cherokee County ((we cannot dive at our pool at
meets))
-4 feet to 5 feet - must have waiver and dive certification
-Over five (5) feet - diving is allowed
-If swimmer was certified last year, they are still certified
-Only new swimmers, or those not certified, need to be
-Mark a "D" on right shoulder at meets for those that CAN DIVE
(parents do this)
-5 year olds don't get dive certified, and don't dive at meets
