IMPORTANT Barracuda 2020 Season Info

    Good Evening Barracuda Families,

We hope everyone is doing well.

We wanted to provide an update after our Zoom call with ASA last night. We know that this pandemic is no one's fault, but the amount of limitations and regulations that have been established have crushed our hope for a normal Barracuda season. Therefore, we have decided that we will NOT be having our 2020 summer swimteam.

This decision was not taken lightly, but our top priority is the safety of our swimmers and Barracuda family. Overall, we agreed (coordinators & our HOA board) that we needed to act in the best interest of our swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and community.

As this is an ever-changing situation, ASA has implemented the following rules (these are subject to change and depend on each city/county rules related to pools and gatherings):

    1. This season would only include “virtual meets” (swimming at home against ourselves then emailing other teams our times)
    2. Temperature checks would be performed on every swimmer at every practice and meet.
    3. Practices would be shortened to align to the number of swimmers allowed on the deck (this will differ depending on city/county rules)
    4. Only 5 swimmers will be allowed in the pool at one time (3 one end & 2 on the opposite side in opposite lanes.)
    5. Parents can only drop off & pick up. No parents will be allowed to wait inside the pool deck area.
    6. No one will be allowed to swim if they have any preexisting health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, lung disease, heart conditions, etc.
    7. No coaches will be allowed to touch any swimmer at any time. Therefore, if you are not an experienced swimmer (or would require anything beyond verbal coaching), you would not be able to participate.
    8. Swim meets would most likely take place over the course of several days to accommodate the number of swimmers allowed in the pool at one time.
    9. No concession sales will be allowed (no food/drinks brought into pool area either)
    10. No usage of any public restrooms.

We acknowledge that ASA is trying to follow the CDC, state & local guidelines in order to have a season, but we feel strongly that these limitations would take away our mission...To provide a safe and fun summer activity for our community. We do not want to have a season that does not embody what we stand for, which is why we want to come back stronger than ever for the 2021 season!

With that being said - I want to go over your swim team registration payments. We would like to give you two options for this summer:

    *OPTION #1:

100% refund by CHECK ONLY (no matter how you paid - cannot credit your card back). I will email a list of anyone who is wanting a refund, then our treasurer (Kelly Sample) will mail you a refund check within 30 days. You will then have to re-register again next March.

    *OPTION #2:

You can leave your payment and registration AS-IS. We will roll everything over to our 2021 season. You will not need to do anything for next season except sign up for your volunteer spots once they are announced.

I am setting a deadline date for all REFUND REQUESTS to be emailed to me by

May 29, 2020. (You do not need to email if you would like your registration money to be rolled over).

***Please make sure all of your emails and addresses are current & updated in our SWIMTOPIA site.**

On a positive note - almost all of our coaches will be returning for our 2021 season!

Also - if this was your swimmer’s last season (due to age) - ASA is allowing them to swim next summer!

Please email or call us with any questions.

We LOVE all of our Barracuda swimmers, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, friends & family members. We are looking forward to our new Red, White & Blue 2021 season.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding. Look out for videos from all of our coaches! #barracudasforlife #BFB2021 #cudastrong #ILB
