Good Evening Barracuda Parents!

Exciting news, we have finalized the meet schedule for the 2021 season! Please mark these dates in your calendar.

2021 BARRACUDA SWIM TEAM SCHEDULE:

• Meet #1: Thursday June 3rd, starting at 6pm
• Meet #2: Tuesday June 8th, starting at 6pm
• Meet #3: Thursday June 10th, starting at 6pm
• Meet #4: Thursday June 17th, starting at 6pm
• Meet #5: Tuesday June 22nd, starting at 6pm

Barracuda’s Award Ceremony:

• Friday June 25th, starting at 7pm.

MEETS

Due to COVID restrictions, meets will be “virtual”, meaning we will have a meet at our pool while the other team competes at their pool.

Although we normally compete in person against another team, I believe that this season could truly be a blessing in disguise for us!

Let’s look at the POSITIVE things that will go on this summer...

1. All 5 meets will be at our own pool
2. No hectic traffic/parking issues
3. No long lines for the bathrooms
4. Much closer to home when we are finished
5. Our meets will be over sooner (we will only have to worry about our swimmers swimming)
6. Fun music at every meet
7. Awesome “themes” at every meet
8. Yummy food for the whole family
9. Tons of new friends to meet & make
10. Crazy halftime events with parents & coaches

Overall - we can focus this summer on OUR swimmers. Practices will be the same as well as the structure of each meet. We will just email our times & placements to ASA & the team we are “virtually” swimming against on that same night. Ribbons will still be recorded & given out every Monday at practice.

We have many fun activities planned for your children for this summer. We are going to take advantage of this opportunity at each meet in order to make this summer as special as possible. I don’t want your children to miss out on an awesome swim team season just because it “won’t be the same”... Heck nothing about this past year has been the same! We are committed - all of our coaches, volunteers & coordinators want to make this a season to remember. I know it won’t be what some are used to...but that's ok. Look what our children have done with school this year!? Our kids are stronger & more resilient than we give them credit. So let them have fun & swim!

THEMES - Each meet will have a specific theme planned for the kids to come in costume (team suit still must be worn under any costumes)

FOOD - Please, please, please come HUNGRY & ready to eat! Proceeds from our concessions is a big factor to our budget, so come support the team! We will have hotdogs, hamburgers, Chick Fil-A sandwiches, Johnny's Pizza, Zaxby’s chicken fingers... just to name a few.

MASKS - Please remember that masks are only required to be worn while you (or your swimmer) are on deck. I do want to add that all of our coaches will be vaccinated by May as well as many swimmers, volunteers and parents. Whether you want to wear a mask or not - please let’s all be civil & respectful to each other.

FUN FRIDAYS - This summer we are changing up how we do our Fun Friday practices. Each Friday will be one specific age group at a time. We have a lot of swimmers this summer - so each age group can have a blast with each other. If it is not your swimmer’s age group...then they get that Friday off!

SETTING UP OUTSIDE - This season everyone will be setting up OUTSIDE the fence. Feel free to use your chairs, towels or blankets for you & your swimmers. Please be respectful of the surrounding areas (no one on the golf course or tennis courts).

VOLUNTEER SHIFTS - We will be posting volunteer shifts after April 15th. Some of our shifts will be changing this summer. We are truly trying to accommodate everyone the best we can. We will send an email out when we will be posting the shifts.

REFUNDS - I will say it again - anyone that would like a refund may do so up until APRIL 15th. I beg you again to think about this before you email me. Parents - please do not throw in the towel just because we have to do things differently this summer.

We are all super excited to meet all of our new families & swimmers. Our seasoned swimmers will definitely show them the ropes.
