BF swim ::: diving certifications (at Cherokee County Aquatic Ctr)

    April 23, 2014

    Hello Barracudas,

Something new and exciting for this summer! Diving Certification!

This will make it possible for us to dive at pools that are 4-5 feet. Currently we cannot do that. We do in-water starts for this depth (and lower).

(( Just fyi, we still won’t be able to dive at our own home meets as our pool is less than 4 feet on either end. ))

Attached is a flyer with dates and times for diving certification.

** First avail date is this Friday.

Please pick a day and time to bring your child to the Cherokee County Aquatic Center to do so – you are responsible for having your child/children do this.

It is a minimal cost and a good experience re: diving.

NOTE: Even kids that are year round swimmers will need to do this, too – it pertains to ALL summer swim league kids in our county.

Guidance from the Cherokee Summer Swim Association:

The intent of the diving instruction is to allow diving in 4 - 5 feet of water inclusive. Anyone can dive with no training in 5+ feet. (The attached document stated it wrong.) The Cherokee County Aquatic Center has gone to an effort to set this up for us. It will insure standardized training and proper documentation. All appropriate documentation MUST be available at meets where you use the waiver. This is critical as this is the only way the inspectors know we have complied with the waiver requirements.

    Thank you!
