2021 Barracuda Reminders for 1st meet

    Good Morning Barracudas!

Can you believe we are only 2 days away from our 1st meet?!?! I hope the kiddos are loving the morning practices.

Here are a few reminders& tips before coming on Thursday pm.

*First & foremost...remember way back a few months ago when we warned everyone about our parking situation??? Well - the time has come.

*Please remember to carpool, get dropped off, walk, bike or jog. All kidding aside...please plan ahead to park. There will be signage on which side of the street to park on. (FYI - you should always park on the "sidewalk side" of the street in this neighborhood. Please do not block homeowners driveways. People will get towed. There will be overflow from golf & tennis on this Thursday as well. Be prepared.

*Please drop off all swimmers by 5pm. They will put their bag (towel, goggles, misc items) over by the mushroom area that will be set up for all swimmers by age group. This is where MOST of our swimmers will hang out for the meet. We try our hardest to know where the younger swimmers are - so our volunteer shepherds can locate them for their races. There will be signs for them. They will warm up & our meet will start promptly by 6pm.

*Our first meet's theme is like, totally for sure the best theme ever....80's/Neon. So parents - it's our turn to show our kids how cool we used to be. But please remember that each swimmer will still need to wear their team suit to swim in.

*Please come HUNGRY. Our concession crew will have sooooo much food for everyone to eat on Thursday. They can take cash, venmo or credit cards. Hotdogs, hamburgers, pizza, chicken fingers, veggie burgers, chicken salad sandwiches, chips, candy, Kona Ice & Auntie Anne's pretzels.

*Please know that we need EVERY SWIMMER to DECLARE if they are swimming in EACH MEET or NOT. Please do not leave your child's entry blank. Either declare ATTENDING OR NOT ATTENDING ahead of time.

NEXT WEEK- WE WILL HAVE 2 MEETS (TUESDAY & THURSDAY). So when the email goes out to please declare...please do it asap. There will be no more "I forget, or do me a favor..." If your swimmer is not declared by each meet's deadline...they will NOT be able to swim in the next meet.

*Better yet...you can go ahead & declare your swimmer for all of our remaining meets NOW. Then there will be no more fussing at you to declare weekly.

*Please make sure you have signed up for your volunteer spots. We will open up meet #5 by next week. We wanted to give everyone who is to volunteer time to sign up first. Please remember if you sign up for a shift & no-show for that shift...there will be a $35.00 fee for that missed shift. It must be paid before the next meet to ensure your swimmer to swim. I apologize that this sounds harsh...but these rules were created because of the many no-shows in the past seasons. So let's all do our part with our shifts & have a blast on Thursday night.

*If the day of the meet & your swimmer becomes ill - please email Sarah ormyself asap. A lot of time & planning goes into each meet's heat sheets - so re-arranging will have to occur very quickly.

*After practice this Thursday - we will email out the list of events in order & an alphabetical list of what each swimmer is swimming. Print them up if you'd like. Please remember that Coach Ansley may put your swimmer in a different event than what you had asked for. Let's let the kids try to swim what is asked of them for the 1st meet. Then changes can be made for the 2nd meet on. But if you had a special request that WAS NOT honored...please let Sarah or myself know asap on Thursday.

*Marking your swimmer for their races can be an absolute blast...it's my favorite part. Parents - get your sharpies ready! (By the way - hand sanitizer can take sharpies off your swimmer's skin.)

On your swimmer's arm or thigh - you will write E/H/L which stands for Event, Heat & Lane. This information will come from the heat sheets that will be emailed out to you by Thursday mid afternoon. You can write their last name on their back or shoulder (this always helps the Shepherds know who is who).

*We always suggest that you have your swimmers take it easy after their practice on Thursdays. We do not recommend going to Six Flags, White Water or even back down to the pool to mess around for hours. We do encourage them to rest & relax...save their energy for Thursday night.

*Finally - this Friday's FUN FRIDAY practice will be for all of our 6 & unders ONLY. Please no siblings. If your swimmer is NOT in this age group...they get to SLEEP IN!!! This practice will be from 9am-10:30am. Donuts & drinks will be served. If your child has ANY kind of allergies - please bring a specific snack for them.

That's it for now! As always - please email us if any questions.

Team suit, goggles, towel, hungry bellies & smiling faces are what we are ready to see on Thursday pm. One more time -Swimmers to be at pool at 5pm & meet starts at 6pm.

Can't wait!!! See you all at the pool!
