Good afternoon Barracudas! Here is the information for the 2021 District 5 Swim Meet held at the Cherokee County Aquatic center on Sixes Road in Canton. Attached is the registration form for anyone who is interested. This opportunity is for swimmers in the 7/8 age group and older. No 6 & under swimmers – SO SORRY! Also attached is a parent information powerpoint with much more detailed information. Registration Deadline is June 16th, 2021. That is this upcoming Wednesday. All forms need to be completed with payment and brough to the Cherokee Aquatic center by that date or they are not able to participate. Here are some more minor details: The District swim meet will be run like a year-round swim meet. Your kids will be getting USA Swimming sanctioned times from this meet - that is what year-round swimmers get...that is what Olympic swimmers get! So that is pretty neat! The Aquatic center pool has 10 lanes. DQ's There are officials who DQ everything in every age group. IF your child plans to swim in the district meet, please talk to the coaches and they can let you know if your swimmer needs to work on anything specific before making this decision. It's so sad to see kids win a race but then later get DQ'd for something silly that they didn't even know they were doing wrong! Lastly, this is an ALL DAY event! If you decide to swim in this district meet, talk to other parents who have done it before or come talk to me (Sarah) to see what all you might need to prepare. Holler if any questions!
