Barracuda News and Pool Update - May 26, 2022

    Hello Barracuda Families,

We have a lot of great information to share as we kick off the swim season so please read this email in it’s entirety.

    • Practices: Barracuda’s practices are open for parents to watch; however, we ask that families sit on the deck side of the clubhouse and not along the sides of the pool. This allows the kids to be focused on the coaches and their instruction. We ask parents to “cheer, don’t steer”.
    • Parents on-site for practices: Swimmers 12 and under need to have a parent on-site during practices. Kids cannot be dropped off before practice to play on the playground without supervision or left after practice. Families are welcome to spend time on the playground both before and after practices however parents need to be on-site supervising their kids.
    • Questions or issues: We ask that you please bring them to the swim coordinators Carla, Kari or Sarah rather than the coaches. At least one of us will be available and on-site during all practices and swim meets.
    • Pool deck for swim meets: A reminder that during the swim meets, our pool deck is shared with the other team, which means that they get half of the deck space. Please be prepared to bring your own chairs and relax on the lawn by the playground and grill should there not be enough room on the deck for everyone at the same time.
    • Clean up duty: In addition, please remind your kids to pick up their trash at both home meets and away meets. We don’t want to be the team that trashes another neighborhood’s facility.
    • Volunteer duties: If you haven’t yet, please sign up for your five (5) shifts. If you don’t show up for a shift or haven’t signed up for 5, you will be charged a fee of $35 per shift per swim meet.
    • Declare your swimmer: It’s time to declare your swimmer for their upcoming swim meets. This needs to take place by the Sunday of each week. If you already know your schedule, go ahead and log into SwimTopia and declare for all the meets. If a swimmer hasn’t been declared and shows up at a meet, they may not be able to swim because we have to merge our swimmers over with the other team two days before the meet through an online platform.
    • Swim meet information: Events by age group and how to mark your swimmers arm for the meets are located on the ‘calendar/meets’ tab

We have a busy upcoming week planned. Our morning practice schedule begins on Tuesday, May 31st. Please refer to SwimTopia for practice times. In addition, we have our Fun Swim Meet on Tuesday evening, May 31st. The theme for this swim meet is Color Wars. Swimmers wear their team suits however you can decorate their arms with the designated color by age group.

    5/6: Blue

    7/8: Green

    9/10: Red

    11/12: Purple

    13/14: Yellow

    15-18: Black and White

Our first swim meet on Thursday, June 2nd will be Aloha themed. Swimmers must wear their team suits during all swim meets.

Instructions on how to declare your swimmer:

    1. Go to SwimTopia Barracudas page, log in. Once on the home page, utilize the ribbon on the right hand side. Scroll down to the event.

    2. Select Meet Entry. You will see the events per age group and then your child’s name. Select the carrot to designate if you’ll be attending. Then select availability for relays and enter notes for coach. Hit SAVE and that’s it!

    Pool Update:

We’re pleased to share that the full panel lab results are in from the samples taken on Tuesday and everything came back clear and safe per the Cherokee County Environmental Health Program. The pool will be open on Friday for residents and we look forward to seeing the swimmers on Tuesday.

    Enjoy your holiday weekend!
