Hello Barracudas!!

Who is ready for the FIRST MEET of the season tomorrow against Deer Run?! We are so excited!! Your kids have been working so hard in practice and we can't wait to see them race! This is a long email full of important details – please read to the end and let us know if you have any questions. If this is your first meet, you are in for a treat – a fun, wild party where we cheer like crazy and have the best time watching our kids swim on a crowded pool deck! These meets are meant to be a FUN and POSITIVE experience. We are so blessed to have amazing coaches and volunteers and could not pull these meets off without you all – thank you! Let’s show Deer Run how classy, respectful, and FUN the Bradshaw Barracudas are!

1. Arrival time: Gates will open at 4:45 (except for the set-up crew). Warm-ups for the Barracudas will be at 5:00 with the visiting team warming up at 5:30.
2. Parking: Please park in the lots at the pool or clubhouse or along one side of the street except in areas marked no parking. Please do not park in any reserved spots. Please DO NOT park in the handicapped spots or the striped spot next to the ramp unless you are handicapped. We highly encourage carpooling and please be prepared to walk from your car!
3. Marking your swimmers’ arms: Please mark your swimmers with their events once the heat sheet is sent out. Please use sharpie! Link to how to mark your arms is here. Please also mark your child’s name and age on the back of their shoulder so that coaches and shepherds can easily identify them!
4. Weather: Because this is a scored meet against another team, we will do everything we can to hold the meet even if it is raining or chilly. We will not swim in thunder. Please pack warm clothing, extra towels/blankets, and rain gear for you and your swimmers! If we have to delay for weather, please seek shelter in your cars.
5. Concessions: We have a fantastic menu with grilled burgers, hotdogs, pizza, chicken salad croissants, pasta salad, chicken tenders, and tons of treats, snacks, and drinks – please come hungry and support your team through concessions!
6. Don’t miss events! We have fabulous volunteer shepherds and coaches, but they cannot keep track of your swimmers if they leave the bullpen area. Please make sure your kids are nearby for their events!
7. Volunteers: Please check in at the Volunteer Table when you arrive so you can get whatever materials or guidance needed to do your duty.
8. Seating: The pool deck will be crowded – we will be sharing the space with another team! There are a limited number of chairs on the pool deck – if you want to be sure you will have a seat, please bring your own chairs. The Barracudas Bullpen for swimmers is around the Rocketship and parents may set up along the side or far end of the pool (we will share the end of the pool with Deer Run). The Deer Run bullpen and parent area is along the slide-side of the pool.
9. Team Suit: Please wear the team uniform – your team suit!
10. Theme: TIE DYE! Wear all your groovy tie dye to the meet!
11. SWIM CAPS: We will be selling latex caps ($10) And silicone caps ($15) at the start of the meet – please purchase these when you arrive!
12. Heat Sheets: We will send these out tomorrow around 2PM. Please print out as we will not have copies at the meet. You can also download the “Swimtopia” App to find the meet and events.
13. Be Respectful: Please remember we are here to have fun, cheer on our kids, show good sportsmanship and leave the area as clean as we found it – please have your kids clean up after themselves at the end of the night or before you leave. Also, kids are NOT allowed on the tennis courts – please keep your children off the courts.
14. FUN FRIDAY - ALL AGES are invited to Fun Friday at 9-11 am after each meet where the kids get their ribbons, donuts, ride the water slide and play games and swim for fun with the coaches! It's a great time!
15. Team cheer – your kids will become experts at this if they aren’t already!
